Frank Moss said all there is to say about the belt.
But I've a different opinion about the fender rails. I think they are not necessary for stability, the stock fender is a strong metal fender with cross beams underneath. I've removed the fender rails and shortened the fender about 3inchs and had no problems with passengers (not even with a 170 pound passenger with approx 30 pound backpack). Never noticed any twisting and have not found any cracks in the paint indicating any bending or even braking of the fender.
So if you keep your passangers below 200 pounds you should be fine, if you seriously try to take passengers above 200 pounds on your savage you're suicidal anyway :-)
